Alto (Bud) Adams Jr. is a third-generation Floridian who graduated from the University of Florida in 1948 and began managing Adams Ranch that same year. He was the president of the Florida Cattlemen's Association in 1959, founded the International Braford Association in 1969, and in 1991 received both the National Cattlemen's Association's Stewardship Award and the Florida Cattlemen's Association's Environmental Award. He served as chairman of the Indian River Community College Foundation for many years and is founder and chairman of the Florida Wildlife and Livestock Foundation.
